This piece began with an image that I couldn’t stop looking at—a tearsheet from Vogue featuring a midnight blue sky, a bright orange vehicle against it, and a model dressed in a hot pants jumpsuit with a matching coat that featured ribbons of the Chanel logo in pinks, periwinkle blue and gold. I was obsessed with the colors and textures photo.

My challenge was to abstract it via layers of paint and collage elements, making something up, fantastically, from something that exists concretely. It was such a joyful process.

Of course, I had to call it P.S. There’s Cake—because after the deep dive of creation, here’s the treat at the end. The final piece is vibrant, layered, and full of energy. It makes me happy every time I see it.
